Biography - Mrs. Safia Bari “An Anchor and a Port for the Special”

It is indeed experience, which brings about realization. To experience is to feel and to feel is to comprehend the effects of an experience. Such is the case, with Safia Bari; a mother of a special needs child, Nusrat. Her experience has infused life into the esteemed SNF group. Her care for these children, her belief in a better world for these children and her dreams for them, has given our group a unique sense of love and hope and an adrenaline unlike another to see special needs children, progress to greater heights.

Mrs. Safia Bari has been in the U.A.E, since 1981, and ever since was hampered with the stress of the learning disability in her loving child, Nusrat. Having this unfortunate disability, the admission of Nusrat into the Al-NOOR TRAINING CENTRE (slow learners section) meant that Safia Bari was encountered with a barrage of difficulties. In fact through her own admission we are told, she had almost given up hope and got the feeling of being a lone sufferer. Her pain often subdued her hard efforts and the road seemed darker than ever. The work AL-NOOR was doing, indeed did aid Nusrat, but Mrs. Safia was still steadily accepting defeat.

Yet perhaps in divine design, Safia Bari began a remarkable attempt to revive herself and her lost strength. It began with attending every school function at Nusrat’s school and her pure, simplistic will landed her in a land of opportunity. She came into contact with various other parents and suddenly the realization hit her that she was not alone. Six years and counting of Safia Bari’s social work, coupled with a group of equally motivated special needs children's parents, suddenly a remarkable family was given life.

Words cannot capture the spirit within this group. Simple, yet effective, this is a group founded by a true leader and pioneer of humanity. Her life re-iterates the famous quote, “ Ignore pains or you will never be happy!” She has confronted with glee what the All Mighty has kept in store for her and accepts all that comes in her way with a smile. Her true metal is highlighted for us all to learn from, her will has brought us this group and perhaps a chance for each special needs child and parent to enjoy better lives. In short, Mrs. Safia Bari and her able group, THE SNF has turned the mundane into magic
