The Special Needs Families ( SNF ) took its first step as a family when a group of families with special needs individuals resolved to begin a new chapter in the lives of the region’s special needs individuals. The first step in 2003 was motivated by a handful of parents whose aim was to achieve a sense of community for their special needs loved ones –this family now stands at over 146 members strong.
The first step of the SNF has now traveled ( and continues to do so ) a great distance. The SNF group now hosts its own centre, THE SNF CHILDREN DEVELOPMENT CENTRE, a centre with the ultimate goal of integrating the special needs individuals into society as independent, motivated individuals. SNF aspires to better prepare its students for mainstream life via personal management, functional academics and society participation for leisure and vocational skill development.
The SNF Children Development Center commenced operations in April 2007 as an extension of the Special Needs Families Support Group in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The aim of the Center is primarily to provide an institution for young adults with special needs who are in need of occupational and vocational training and furthermore, for SNF to join hands with the special needs fraternity in Dubai. Download our brochure to learn more about us.
The Center is a dedicated facility for young adults with special needs who would like to enhance their lives by contributing to the community in their own special way. Qualified and certified staff members assist in escalating integration in mainstream society by imparting training specific to every individual’s potential and vocational needs.
We would like to not only thank our many volunteers and donors who have helped us in the past but would also like to invite new ones to come partake in this unique experience. Our exciting volunteer group includes teenagers, young adults, retired school teachers, airline crew and everyone in between and extends from classroom activities, field trips and fund raising to event coordination and administration support.
